Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Swedish massage, but the deep pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).

Massage is a series of simple movements mixed together in order to get to the deeper levels of soft tissue.

We are running a Deep Tissue Massage workshop with Harriet on Sunday 2nd October which will cover the basic massage movements and how to apply them to each area of the body. If you have ever wanted to understand and learn more about deep tissue massage, this might be the workshop just for you. It can be very satisfying to learn to experience receiving a massage, which is why people enjoy it so much.

In massage we always work within the pain threshold of the person receiving the massage, so this makes it an easy skill to be able to practice on others.

By exploring the parallels between soft tissue massage and yoga, this workshop will allow you to develop massage techniques needed to palpate and assess soft tissue. You will be introduced to a unique form of bodywork needed to release muscular tension and assist in enabling body realignment using acupressure, yoga positions and reflexology. A really uniting workshop for couples who want to learn the basics of giving a good massage.

‘I can’t thank you enough for making it such a fantastic afternoon, meeting lovely people and learning at the same time. I always thought I struggled learning, however being in your workshop made me realise it’s the style of learning that I struggled with and now can’t wait to attend more to expand my knowledge further.’

Hannah Flavell, who attended the last Deep Tissue Massage course.
