We are excited to be hosting international teacher Aki Omori to run our first Integrated Restorative Immersion for yoga teachers, trainees and dedicated students. On completion of this immersion participants will have gained the knowledge and confidence to work with Integrated Restorative techniques both in their own practice and in the creation of classes. The course is also suitable for those who work with people in settings such as counselling, energy work or pilates.

Our Restorative Immersion is distinct from other courses because it comes from a deeply somatic standpoint—rather than working from the outside in you are trained to work from the inside out. Aki teaches an understanding of the inside of the body, and from this standpoint decide the best form to use.

This is what Aki says about somatic work:

“Somatic work is based on discoveries through our own experiences. In Somatic practices, the body is experienced from within, instead of looked upon from outside. That way, the body and mind are not separated but are experienced as one.”

This 35-hour training is designed for yoga teachers, trainees and students who wish to:

/ Include restorative yoga in their existing practices.
/ Add restorative elements to their classes
/ Develop restorative focused classes.
/ Find more balance and peace in their lives.

The training immersion runs over two weekends for a total of 28 contact hours. During these hours you will be supported by Aki Omori and Fabiano Culora in the Yoga Kula studio. In addition to the studio hours, there are also 7 non-contact hours, for which trainees will be set creative tasks. These tasks allow the opportunity to consolidate information and understand the work on a much deeper level. This will allow students to stay in touch with the course material and move deeper into the practice and teachings prior to the second weekend.

All students will receive a handbook to support the training immersion.

After the course

On successful completion of this Integrative Restorative Training Immersion, Yoga Kula are happy to offer further opportunities including assisting classes and workshops for those who are interested in deepening their knowledge/experience. This may lead to teaching opportunities with Yoga Kula for those who show promise and already have a yoga teaching certificate.

About Aki

Aki runs workshops both nationally and internationally around embodied anatomy, developmental movement, embryology and restorative yoga. She also runs regular retreats in addition to her own training programmes for yoga teachers and therapists. As well as being an in-demand and a successful yoga teacher, she is also a registered somatic movement therapist and a developmental/relational trauma therapist.

One student’s view of Aki:

“Aki is poetic, yet grounded. She is experiential yet confident in the benefits of exploring different ‘ways in’ to yoga. She is fluid and inspiring…”
